The NHS North East & Yorkshire and North West Genomic Medicine Service Alliances are offering two *free* webinars, with one as part of the forthcoming #GenomicsConversation week (20th -24th June) on 23 June 2022, which provides an opportunity to ask any questions you have about genomics or common questions you might encounter in practice.

Webinar dates and times:  23 June 2022 and 5 July 2022, between 7.15-8.15 pm.

The webinars aim to raise awareness of the developments in genomic medicine which is a new and exciting area for pharmacy teams across the North.  Both take the form of an educational session focused on genomics and community pharmacy teams, tailored for Pharmacists and Pharmacy technicians.

Led by Emma Grove and Jessica Keen, Pharmacy Lead’s for the North East & Yorkshire, and North West Alliances respectively, the webinars will cover:

1.            What is genomics? Why do I need to talk about it?

2.            How could genomic medicine change pharmacy day to day practice?

3.            What can I do to prepare for these changes?

By joining the webinar, we will seek to answer your questions and support you on your genomics journey.  For example, could pharmacist-led genomic services become the norm in the UK? If you want to be a pioneer within community pharmacy, then join the session and start your genomics journey.

We hope that by the end of each session, participants will be able to

  • Explain what genomics is and be aware of what is happening within the Genomic Medicine Service
  • Identify existing application of genomics in pharmacy practice and how this can be exhibited in individual practice
  • Be prepared to talk about genomics and get ready to act!
