Lynch Syndrome Awareness Day is being held on Wednesday 22 March 2023; a day to improve awareness of Lynch Syndrome and highlight why testing, especially in families following a cancer diagnosis, is so important. 

Lynch syndrome (LS) is an inherited condition caused by pathogenic variants in Mismatch Repair (MMR) Genes that result in an increased risk of colorectal, endometrial, and other cancers. Research shows there could be over 200,000 people in the UK with Lynch Syndrome but 95% do not know they have the condition.

Individuals with Lynch syndrome have a lifetime risk of bowel cancer of up to 80% and endometrial cancer of 60% depending on which gene is affected.
