Embedding genomics into patient care
We are funded to deliver a range of regional and national transformation health and care programmes each year (April-March), which support healthcare services and professionals to:
- incorporate genomic medicine into their clinical practice
- embed genomics into routine healthcare
- provide personalised care for patients
Aligned to our regional and national projects will be a comprehensive education and training programme, to ensure that NHS colleagues feel supported and have the understanding and confidence to utilise genomics for the benefit of patient care, working collaboratively with Health Education England and their Genomics Education Programme.
Our regional and national projects will harness existing and new partnerships and collaborations with Alliance partners across the region, bringing together the Genomic Laboratory Hubs, clinical genetic services including genomic counsellors, provider organisations, Cancer Alliances, research and academia and patient and public representatives to build trust in genomics, providing clinical leadership to enable all NHS staff across to use genomics safely, effectively and efficiently.

Equality and diversity
Our new equality and diversity strategy will inform our regional and national projects, as we work together to ensure equity of access to genomic testing across the population of the North West.
